Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about working with Marks Custom Remodeling.
What areas do you serve?
I serve the South Shore of Massachusetts — from Plymouth up to just south of the Braintree split — including Pembroke, Hanover, Norwell, Marshfield, Scituate, and nearby South Shore towns. Keeping my service area focused helps me stay reliable with scheduling and communication.
What types of projects do you take on?
I take on residential remodeling projects that need planning, craftsmanship, and at least a full day of focused work. I really enjoy getting into projects where I can build, create, and make a space feel better to live in — I’m not tied to one specific type of job.
Do you take small jobs?
I don’t handle one‑hour repairs, but I do take on smaller projects when they line up with my schedule and give me a full day to really dig in. Honestly, I enjoy those kinds of jobs — the ones where I can focus, put in solid craftsmanship, and walk away knowing the work was done right. If your project benefits from planning and skilled labor, I’m always happy to take a look.
Who will be working in my home?
You’ll be working directly with me. I handle most of the work myself to keep the quality consistent and the process straightforward. When a project needs licensed specialists, I bring in the right people for the job and stay involved to make sure everything is done the right way.
How far out are you booking?
It depends on the season and the size of the project. During our first conversation, I’ll give you a realistic idea of timing so you know what to expect before moving forward.
How do you communicate during a project?
I keep things straightforward. You’ll hear from me directly about what I’m working on, what’s coming up next, and anything I need from you along the way. I’m on site for the work, so most updates happen naturally as the project moves forward. If something changes or a decision needs to be made, I’ll let you know right away so we stay on the same page.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes — I’m happy to talk through your project over the phone and give you a ballpark idea of cost, no charge. For straightforward jobs, I’ll come out and put together an estimate for free. For larger projects like a full bathroom or basement remodel, I offer a paid consultation that includes a detailed written proposal — and if you move forward with me, that fee gets credited toward your project. Either way, the first step is always a quick call — reach out and let’s talk about what you have in mind.
What kind of clients do you work best with?
I work best with homeowners who want things done the right way and appreciate solid, honest craftsmanship. The people I connect with most are the ones who value a straightforward conversation, understand that good work takes time, and want a steady, respectful working relationship. If you care about quality and want someone who treats your home like it matters, we’ll get along really well.
What can I expect during the project?
You can expect things to stay organized and your home to be treated with respect. I keep the work area clean, protect the spaces I’m in, and make steady progress each day. I’ll let you know what I’m working on and what’s coming up next so you’re never wondering where things stand. My goal is to keep the process smooth and make sure the everything is done the right way from start to finish.
